With less than four months remaining before the country moves into the next general elections in August, the choice for a running mate between the two leading presidential contestants still remains frenetic.
While all pointers indicate a probable running mate from the Mt Kenya region for both Ruto and Raila, the question of who will be given the mandate continues to befuddle many.
Despite this, former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has weighed in on who Raila should pick as his running mate from the Mt Kenya region.
Taking to his Facebook page, Kidero opined the name of the person Raila should consider picking as his running mate.
According to the Homa Bay gubernatorial aspirant, Raila should consider picking a woman for his deputy instead of a man.

Kidero went ahead to warn Raila against choosing an ambitious deputy who will frustrate him in the future, adding that the person should be respectful, hardworking and a person who will not compete with Raila on the presidential stage.
"It’s my considered view that the running mate should be a woman from mount Kenya, who is polished, respected, a worker bee, and not a person who’ll be competing with Jakom for the presidential stage and space. A true assistant" stated Kidero.
The former city boss singled out the Cabinet Secretary for public service Youth and Gender Professor Margaret Kobia as the best person suited to be Raila's running mate.
"Nobody fits this requirement better than Prof. Margaret Kobia, Ph.D., EGH Cabinet secretary for public service youth and Gender. Watch the space" he added
He rubbished the views expressed by one Peter Kagwanja (a celebrated academic and a jubilee senatorial aspirant for Muranga), that Raila Odinga should not pick his running mate from the Mount Kenya region.
According to Kagwanja, nearly all leaders from the Mt Kenya region seeking to be Raila's deputy lacks national appeal and grassroots support and hence can not deliver votes to Raila in the August election.
He said all these leaders cannot deliver victory to Azimio, hence Raila should consider looking for one outside Mt Kenya
Already, several politicians from the region including Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua, former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth and Agriculture CS Peter Munya, Governor Lee Kinyanjui have been fronted as Raila's possible running mates.
