As the nation mourns the death of Kenya’s third President Mwai Kibaki, President Uhuru Kenyatta has led politicians in paying tribute to the fallen leader.
President Kenyatta, who announced the death of the former Head of State, mourned Kibaki as one who dedicated his life to public service.
In his presidential proclamation, President Kenyatta said that Kibaki was a leader who strived to achieve a lot for the country.
”We salute a notable a father figure in the chronicles of our nation. A leader who strove so hard and accomplished so much for his country. A nation that he so deeply cherished and served with commitment and an unbending will to improve the lives of our people,” the President stated.
On his part, Deputy President William Ruto led the Kenya Kwanza Alliance in eulogizing Kibaki as a great son of the nation.

“Today, as Kenyans, we have lost a great son of our nation. We are poorer today without him," the DP said.
ODM leader Raila Odinga gave his condolences on behalf of the Azimio team the late former President as one who served the country with diligence and transparency.
"It is a sad morning for the people of Kenya as we have lost the third President. He was one of the freedom fighters of our country. He has served the country for many years with diligence and transparency,” Raila said.
Wiper boss Kalonzo Musyoka said mourned Kibaki as an iconic father figure who used language that younger Kenyans would not be allowed to use.
“As we mourn him, we have to remember moments when he made the country laugh. He used language that younger Kenyans would not be allowed to use,” he said.
ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi said that Kibaki was a politician who stood firm in his tenure and laid the foundation for economic progress.
Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula eulogized Kibaki as one of the pillars of continental peace in Africa.
