Jubilee national director of elections Kanini Kega has explained the decision to withdraw the Mathare MP certificate given to Kevin Kioko, popularly known as Bahati.
Speaking on Wednesday, the Kieni MP said that the decision came after the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party inquired why the ruling party had fielded a candidate in their stronghold.
Kega said that Jubilee had to pull out of the race because ODM was fielding a candidate in the area.
“ODM reached to us (Jubilee) asking why we decided to field a candidate in a constituency that was settled on as an ODM stronghold.
“They stated they already have a candidate for Mathare who will be defending his seat and so we had to pull out of the race,” Kega stated.
