Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi is a popular figure in Nairobi politics.
Despite his vibrancy and fighting spirit that is evident in his campaigns, Wanyonyi is a man who is living with a disability.
In an interview with Citizen TV on Wednesday, Wanyonyi revealed the intrigues that saw him put in a wheelchair for life.
On one fateful evening, he narrates, while leaving the office in 1998, Wanyonyi was accosted by a carjacker who shot at him and that is how he found himself in a wheelchair.
Wanyonyi was then working for his brother Moses Wetangula at his law firm.

"Some thugs accosted me somewhere in Ngara, Nairobi. They shot me and that is it. My life transformed from a young vibrant lawyer to a wheelchair," he narrated.
The MP went on to narrate that the chilling process was an uphill task considering that accepting his situation was a difficult thing.
He narrated that he had to be taken to rehabilitation where he was able to go through the healing process that saw him change his attitude about himself.
"It is very difficult to transform from one condition to another. It can lead to depression, self-denial, and many other things. When you go through the process of healing, it takes quite some time. Healing the mind is the most difficult thing," Tim said.
Despite the recovery, he said a lot had still changed with regard to how people were treating him.
He said his brother was sympathetic to him and took away all his clients thinking that he was helping him because of his situation.
"Things had changed. People were not looking at me the same way. All my clients had been taken away. I could go to the office, sit all day and go back home."
After a year of that Wanyonyi revealed that he moved out and established his law firm.
He was able to earn the trust of his former clients and that is how he grew.
