Mudavadi and Wetangula were required to get William Ruto 70% of the votes from the five counties of Western Kenya.

COTU secretary general Francis Atwoli has laughed off ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance power sharing deal.

In a tweet on Thursday, Atwoli questioned the conditions set for the two Western Kenya leaders in the Deputy President William Ruto-led outfit.

The trade unionist questioned why Mudavadi and Wetangula were asked to bring 70 percent of votes from the region only to get a 30 percent share.

He, however, said that 80 percent of voters in Western were in the Azimio coalition and even if the duo was asked to get 10 percent, they could not manage.

“More than 80% of Western Kenya voters are in Azimio. It's only in pata potea where you can be asked to come with 70% so as to be given 30%. But even if they were asked to bring 10% from Western Kenya, they wouldn't manage. Kenyans must be weary of the tricks within UDA,” Atwoli tweeted.

It emerged on Wednesday, May 11, that Deputy President William Ruto will create a Prime Cabinet Secretary post for ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi if he clinches the presidency in the August polls.

According to the agreement, the post of National Assembly Speaker will go to Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula and his Ford Kenya party. Musalia and Mudavadi have also been promised a 30% share of Ruto's government, that is appointments in all ministries and government parastatals.

The two Western Kenya leaders are in return, required to deliver 70% of the votes from the five counties of Western Kenya.
