The Safina Party presidential aspirant has sent a strong message to IEBC.

Safina Party presidential aspirant Jimi Wanjigi on Monday, June 6, sent a bold message to the Independent and Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) after his State House run was rejected.

Addressing the media outside the Bomas of Kenya, Wanjigi claimed that he knew what was going on in the commission maintaining that he would be on the ballot in the upcoming polls.

The businessman-turned-politician claimed that there seemed to be a decision that some aspirants would not make it to the ballot

“I want to inform the commission that we know what is going on. And unfortunately this time you would not get away with it. There seems to be a very clear decision that there are people who must not be on the ballot. And I am one of them,” Wanjigi stated.

“I want to assure Kenyans that I will be on the ballot.” He added. Wanjigi said that his party would head to court following the decision by IEBC.

The electoral body turned away Wanjigi on grounds that he did not have a degree, one of the requirements of a presidential candidate.

IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati told the Safina Party presidential aspirant to bring a physical copy of the degree certificate for him to be cleared to vie.

Wanjigi now joins a list of presidential aspirants whose papers have been rejected by IEBC and they include; Dr. Ekuru Aukot, Governor Mwangi wa Iria, Reuben Kigame among others.
