The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) disputes tribunal has cleared Senator Johnson Sakaja to vie for the gubernatorial race in the August polls.
While issuing the ruling on Sunday, June 19 the tribunal stated that it didn't have the mandate to verify the authenticity of the degree certificates.
"Though there are serious aspersions as to the validity of his documents but Sakaja has not been charged in a court of law over allegations of engaging in an offense of having falsified documents," the IEBC tribunal said.
Reacting minutes after he had been cleared, Senator Sakaja said, "cleared. Tukutane Kwa debe."
An appeal had been lodged challenging Senator Sakaja's degree which he presented at IEBC from Teams University.
