It all started when Igathe questioned whether Sakaja was indeed the name of the Nairobi senator.

The Nairobi Gubernatorial Debate held on Monday, July 12, was not without drama of sorts.

The debate was moderated by KTN News anchor Zubeida Koome in partnership with NTV's Mark Masai.

Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja who is eyeing the governor seat on a UDA party ticket faced off with Jubilee's Polycarp Igathe in the second phase of the interview.

The interview took a dramatic turn after the moderator Zubeida and Sakaja were embroiled in a somewhat a war of words.

Zubeida picked up the matter and posed to the Senator whether his name was indeed Sakaja.

Here is how it went down:

Zubeida: Is your name Sakaja?

Sakaja: Is your name Zubeida?

Zubeida: I am the one asking the questions

Sakaja: If you ask an unnecessary question I give you an unnecessary answer

Zubeida: Just tell us if your name is Sakaja?

Sakaja: Who did you invite?

It is after the standoff that Sakaja finally bowed to pressure and said his name is Johnson Sakaja Arthur.

He went on to appeal to moderators to focus on important issues that affect Nairobi rather than focusing on what he called "petty issues".
