"Who are you representing? Because if you are representing Al-Shabaab, I will not answer you," CS Magoha.

Education CS Prof. George Magoha has come under heavy criticism over remarks made against a female Muslim journalist.

Addressing the press on Tuesday, July 26, Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) chairman Hassan Ole Naado called for the sacking of Magoha over the remarks.

According to Naado, the consequences of the utterances by Magoha were to undermine the constitutional and human rights to religion and press freedom.

He further said that the remarks by the Education CS weakens efforts to eradicate extremism which he said was one of the greatest security threats.

“The consequences of this profiling especially from a leader of this stature are to undermine the constitutional and human rights to religion, human dignity and press freedom. This also undercuts efforts to eradicate extremism one of the greatest security threats,” the SUPKEM chairman stated.

Magoha made the remarks in Nairobi when he was attempting to answer a question raised by the NTV female Muslim journalist.

In a clip that went viral, the CS was heard asking the journalist who she was representing saying that if she was representing Al-Shabaab, he could not answer the question.

“First of all where do you come from? Who are you representing? Because if you are representing Al-Shabaab, I will not answer you," Magoha was heard saying.

After the journalist replied that she was from NTV, Magoha then said: “NTV is a good station, so I will answer you."
