Wildlife conservationists who have played an important role in protecting wildlife in Africa were honoured by the Duke of Cambridge on Thursday, December 3 2020.

Prince William announced that a Kenya conservationist was the recipient of an award for his effort in wildlife conservation.

John Kamanga a grassroots conservation leader was awarded the trophy during the 2020 Tusk Award.

"John Kamanga is the winner of the 2020 Tusk Award for Conservation in Africa, sponsored by @LandRover. John has dedicated his career to developing a vision for the co-existence of pastoralist communities and wildlife," Tusk organization stated.


Mr. Kamanga has dedicated his career to developing a vision for the co-existence of pastoralists and wildlife.

His conservation view draws on indigenous traditions while incorporating modern realities and conservation opportunities.

He is the founder and director of SORALO, an organisation representing 16 Maasai communities living across several million hectares in Kenya.
