Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed that he has had his first conversation with incoming Kenya President William Ruto.
In a statement on Thursday, September 8, Zelensky said that he congratulated Ruto for his victory even as he thanked Kenya for her support in international organizations.
The Ukrainian leader further stated that Ukraine will continue to be the guarantor of Africa's food security.
“Had the 1st conversation in the history of bilateral relations with newly elected Kenya President William Ruto. Congratulated him on his victory. Thanked Kenya as a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) member for its support in international organizations. Ukraine will continue to be the guarantor of Africa's food security,” Zelensky stated.

Several foreign Heads of States have congratulated Ruto for his victory, pledging to work together to strengthen bilateral relations.
Surprisingly, his outgoing boss president Uhuru Kenyatta is yet to congratulate him for his win after the Supreme Court upheld his victory on September 5.
In an interview with CNN on Wednesday, September 7, Ruto said that maybe President Kenyatta was disappointed that his candidate Raila Odinga lost in the election.
"Unfortunately, President Uhuru Kenyatta has not seen it fit to congratulate me but I think that's fine. Maybe he is disillusioned or a bit unhappy that I defeated his candidate but that is the nature of politics," Ruto said.
