Kindiki is the first CS nominee to be vetted on Tuesday and the sixth to be vetted so far.

The presentation of Interior Cabinet Secretary nominee Kithure Kindiki occasioned a light moment in parliament after he made reference to former  President Uhuru Kenyatta instead of the sitting president William Ruto.

Kindiki was defending himself against a question that sought to know whether being sidelined for the position of Deputy President will affect his relationship with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and President Ruto.

He answered the question by saying he respects authority and will remain submissive to those above him.

At the same time, he acknowledged that Gachagua is his boss adding that he will abide by his directives while serving in government.

It is, however, while reiterating his commitment to the president that he mistakenly said President Uhuru Kenyatta instead of Ruto.

The blunder made him pose his speech for a second after having realized the blunder.

" Oooh sorry, President Uhuru is my former boss though he threw me away. I meant President William Ruto," he said amidst laughter from the appointment committee members.
