An instant messaging platform WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is down.
Meta also owns Facebook and Instagram.
Nairobi Leo has established that millions of users are unable to send messages to groups and even to other users privately despite having a stable internet connection.
Down Detector, an online site that provides real-time information on issues affecting social apps reported that 84 per cent of complaints on WhatsApp were about the inability to send and receive messages.
12 per cent of those who presented their complaints reported that the app was not working efficiently.

Another three per cent reported that the WhatsApp Web was not linking to the app.
Meta was yet to issue a statement by the time of publishing this story.
The service was however back at around 11:50 am.
