The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has announced the death of Africa's largest elephant.
In a statement on Tuesday, November 1, KWS said that the elephant, which was named Dida, died from natural causes due to old age.
KWS posted photos of the elephant that resided at Tsavo East National Park, describing her as a matriarch, having lived for about 60 to 65 years.

However, the post did not go down well with a section of netizens who were quick to raise questions about the death of the elephant.
According to a section of netizens, the announcement by KWS had more questions than answers due to the nature of some photos.
In one of the photos shared by KWS, there was a carcass, possibly of an animal that must have died long ago.
The netizens wondered whether the elephant died of natural causes or it was killed and left to rot as the carcass was dry.
Below are a few reactions as captured by Nairobileo.co.ke.
This announcement has left us with more questions than answers. The carcass is quite old. Was it killed and left to rot with its tusks intact only for them to be traded after this 'announcement'?

If that's her carcass when did she die?

Was her death because of natural causes or the ongoing drought, which has highly affected animals in the Tsavo? https://t.co/vvBRU2uwoR
