Haikuangi Personal! Senator Sifuna's Statement After Meeting CS Aisha Jumwa

Nairobi Senator and ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna on Saturday met Cabinet Secretary for gender and public Service Aisha Jumwa in Mombasa.

Their meeting comes ahead of the launch of the Agricultural show in Mombasa.

Jumwa was a key member of the ODM party before she defected to President William Ruto's camp.

After her exit, she was embroiled in a standoff of sorts with Sifuna which saw them disparage one another in public.

But in meeting with the CS on Saturday, Sifuna clarified that politics is never personal.

"I ran into Waziri Aisha Jumwa at Mombasa airport and congratulated her for overcoming all obstacles, including those I laid myself, to land the docket," Sifuna said after meeting the CS.

"We had a laugh and went our separate ways. Haikuangi personal."

The comments come even after Sifuna criticised the appointment of Jumwa saying she is incompetent and did not deserve to be a CS.

“‘There are people in Kenya Kwanza like Kithure Kindiki who are competent for any government position but AishaJumwa is a big joke. She is not competent or suitable for any position,” Sifuna said last month.

The CS also met the ODM leader Raila Odinga on Friday who was in the company of Governor Abdulswamad Nassir.

The group is in Mombasa for yet-to-be-disclosed reasons.

Sifuna and Jumwa's rivalry dates back to 2020. They had a nasty exchange at a burial that led to Jumwa grabbing a microphone from Sifuna.

Since then, the two have never had kind words for each other.
