President William Ruto's party the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has issued a statement following a plan by Fafi MP Salah Yakub to remove Presidential term limit.
Mr. Yakub had claimed that a section of UDA lawmakers has been working on a constitutional amendment Bill to replace the two-term limit with an age limit of 75 years.
However, in a rejoinder, UDA has distanced itself from the plan by the MP saying their focus right now is to deliver their election promises to the people of Kenya.
Ruto's party noted that they were not interested in the sideshows by the legislator and were focused on their mandate.
"Remarks by Fafi MP Salah Yakub that there are plans to extend term limits for the President are a product of a fertile imagination by the legislator. UDA distances itself from the utterances by the MP.

"The Party has not been part of discussions in regard to term limits. The Party is busy implementing The Plan and will not be part of sideshows," UDA party tweeted.
Mr. Yakub, who was elected on UDA ticket, said that what was remaining is for the proposers to sit and draft the constitutional amendment Bill and forward it to Parliament.
The 2010 Constitution maintained the presidential term limit for two years. Section 142 of the constitution of Kenya says;
(1) The President shall hold office for a term beginning on the date on which the President was sworn in, and ending when the person next elected President in accordance with Article 136 (2) (a) is sworn in.
(2) A person shall not hold office as President for more than two terms.
