The Director of a company accused of orchestrating the eviction of an Indian family in Westlands, Nairobi has been arrested.
Nathaniel Kipkemboi Barmasai was arrested Sunday in Eldoret.
He has already been brought to Nairobi where he is expected to be charged in court with malicious damage to property.
Barmasai is one of the four directors of Lariak Properties.
Others are Samuel K. Chepkwony, John Kamaiyoa Rotich and Joel Kiplangat.
The remaining four directors have been summoned by the Land Fraud Unit at DCI headquarters.
Barmasai is accused of ordering the eviction of Niraj Shah and his wife Avani Shah from their one-acre prime piece of land in Westlands.
The family said they leased the land for a period that is expected to end in 2048.
A group of armed people raided the family home a few days ago and demolished the house of the Indian family even as they made their way with their properties.
The group claimed to have acquired a court order allowing the to demolish the structure.
The family claimed attempts to reach out to police to stop the demolition fell flat. Their plea got the attention of the media and social media prompting Kenyans to demand for their help.
Zachary Baraza of Siuma Auctioneers believed to have been contracted to conduct the demolition was arrested thereafter and arraigned. He was however released on bail as the case continues.
