The US government has offered Sh1 billion to anyone who will volunteer information that will lead to the arrest of the three most wanted terror suspects associated with the Al-Shabaab terrorist group.
The US government has also promised to relocate those who will aid in the identification of the suspects if need be for security purposes.
Top on the list of the three most wanted terror suspects is Mahad Karate, also known as Abdirahman Mohamed Warsame.
Karate initially had a 5 million dollar bounty on his head.
Another wanted suspect is Jehad Serwan Mostafa, also known as Ahmed Gurey, Anwar al-Amriki, and Emir Anwa Mostafa.
The US has also requested information that could lead to the arrest of Ahmed Diriye, also known as Ahmed Umar and Abu Ubaidah. The two also had Sh500 million bounty.
“Do you have info that can help us find Diriye, Karate, or Mostafa? Submit your tip now. You could receive a reward of up to $10,000,000! Relocation may be possible,” a poster prepared reads.
They are wanted over claims they are responsible for numerous terrorist attacks in Somalia, Kenya, and neighbouring countries that have killed thousands of people.
“If you have information about al-Shabaab's illicit financial activities, submit a tip via Signal, Telegram, or WhatsApp to one of the numbers Kenya: + 254-71-87-12-366 and Somalia: +252-68-43-43-308. You could be eligible for a reward.”
According to the US, Karate serves as al-Shabaab’s shadow deputy leader. Karate has some command responsibility over the Amniyat, al-Shabaab’s intelligence and security wing, as well as the group’s finances.
The Amniyat plays a key role in the execution of suicide attacks and assassinations in Somalia, Kenya and other countries.
