Kenya Railways noted that it has deployed a team to restore normal services on the routes.

The Kenya Railways has announced that it has suspended the morning link trains to Lukenya and Syokimau.

In a notice on Thursday, April 24, Kenya Railways said the disruption of the train services is due to a blockage of the railway line at Mukuru.

“Kindly note that owing to a blockage of the line at Mukuru, the morning link trains to Lukenya and Syokimau will not run,” read the notice in part.

The corporation noted that it has deployed a team to remove the blockage and ensure train services are restored.

Kenya Railways also apologized to members of the public affected by the suspension of the train services to Lukenya and Syokimau.

“Our team is on the ground working to ensure that normal services are restored as soon as possible. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused and will notify you once normal services resume,” Kenya Railways added.

This comes amid heavy rainfall that is currently being experienced in Nairobi and other parts of the country.

On Monday evening, travelers were stranded at Nairobi’s Central Railway Station after flooding disrupted train operations to the Syokimau SGR station.

The station’s management was forced to arrange for buses to transport passengers to Syokimau.

The Kenya Met Department on Wednesday announced that the heavy rains will continue until the weekend before subsiding.

"Significant reductions in intensity and spread likely from the weekend," read the Met Department statement in part.
