A number of former Cabinet Secretaries who served in the previous administration under retired President Uhuru Kenyatta have landed new jobs months after leaving government.

The former Tourism Cabinet Secretary was on October 6 appointed as Tourism Advisor by Tony Blair Institute (TBI).
Following the appointment, Balala said on his social media that he will be part of a global team of strategists, policy experts and implementation practitioners who will work with political leaders and governments to drive change around the world.
Prior to his appointment, Balala served as Vice President of Fauna and Flora International (FFI), an international NGO dedicated to the conservation of threatened wildlife and habitats.
Joe Mucheru
The former ICT Cabinet Secretary was appointed global president of London-based Jumo in January. The fintech company provides digital financial services such as loans, savings, and insurance products to emerging markets.
Confirming the news via his LinkedIn profile, Mucheru said he would help the company achieve its growth targets.
“I am hugely excited to be joining a business that is helping capital providers make attractive returns at the same time as supporting measurable impact. I look forward to working with Andrew and the team,” he stated.
Charles Keter
The former Energy and Devolution CS was on September appointed by President Ruto as his advisor on the Great Lakes Region Affairs.
Taking to his social media, Keter thanked the Head of State for the appointment adding that he will contribute to the prosperity and stability of the Great Lakes Region in his new position.
Phylis Kandie
President Ruto on September 19 appointed Kandie as his advisor on Commodity Market Development.
The former CS announced her appointment in a statement on Tuesday, September 19, thanking President Ruto for the role.
“I would like to thank HE the President for the honour he has bestowed on me to serve as his advisor, Commodities Market Development,” Kandie stated
Kandie served as the East African Affairs Cabinet Secretary under former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The former Public Service CS in February this year was appointed as an adjunct research professor at the University of Nairobi. The former CS also serves as chancellor of St Paul’s University and a trustee of the University of Nairobi (UoN) Foundation.
