Kenya boasts some of the best beaches and is among the leading holiday destinations in the world. And along the coastline, sits some of the best resorts you could ever walk into, some of them, have been feted internationally.
In this segment, Nairobileo.co.ke takes you through a tour of one of the most renowned holiday getaways on Kenya's coastline, the Billionaire Resort.
Judging by the name, it oozes elegance. Once you step into the resort, you feel like a billionaire.
The resort is owned by former Formula One star Flavio Briatore and offers exclusive high-end services to revellers from all over the world.
"The cutting-edge design of the Resort focuses on a mission of high quality and high performance and it reflects the synthesis of tradition and innovation using local materials," reads an excerpt from the statement in the resort's website.
The resort boasts amazing relaxing spots which include; the beach, restaurant, swimming pool, spa, and the kalifa.
Overlooking the beach are several private gazebos that offer wonderful experiences for couples looking to have a good time. A date at the gazebos comes with a personal butler.
Revellers at the resort are also treated to various fun activities such as tours of the marine parks and the national reserves.
The resort and apartments do not have public accommodation as it is a private, closed residential property so one needs to call in advance for access to be considered.
Next to Billionaire resort is the Lion in the Sun resort which is also owned by Briatoire. A night in the villas goes for about €300 (about Ksh36,336) depending on the season.
"Lion in the sun is available for exclusive renters and the prices depend on how many people are booked into the resort," a source at the resort told a local daily.
The resorts have attracted a number of world-class individuals including Kenya's Tourism ambassador Naomi Campbell, American private equity real estate investor Tom Barack, French motorsport executive Jean Todt, former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, Italian billionaire and co-founder of the Benetton group Luciano Benetton.
Briatorire has on a number of occasions threatened to pull his investments from the town's tourism industry, decrying bad infrastructure, heaping garbage and political squabbles.
