Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops under the East African Community Regional Force (EACRF) in the Democratic Republic of Congo have moved hearts after they helped a woman due for delivery to give birth.
The KDF soldiers were on patrol in Kibumba, in Nyiragongo Territory, North Kivu Province when they were called to attend to a woman who was experiencing labour pains.
The KDF medical team conducted a successful delivery and stabilised the mother and baby before transferring them to Kinyaruchinya Health Centre in Goma for further management.

The aid comes at a time when hospital facilities remain closed in the North Kivu province where KDF soldiers under the East African Community Regional Force (EACRF) are working to restore law and order.
"The joint cooperation between the Democratic Republic of Congo Government, EACRF and other stakeholders to bring peace in North Kivu will enable the reopening of social and public amenities such as hospitals and schools among others," KDF said.
The move by KDF soldiers to help the woman deliver has been received with gratitude with a section of Kenyans lauding them for a job well done.
