Why Martha Karua Has Praised DCI

Narc Kenya Party Leader Martha Karua has commended the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) after resolving the Lavington land saga.

In a statement via her X account on Sunday, October 1, Karua said the DCI should act within the rule of law at all times.

“Bravo. Hope it is not just a PR stunt by DCI Kenya they should at all times act within the rule of law not as gangsters,” Karua stated.

The Azimio la Umoja principal was responding to activist Boniface Mwangi’s statement after meeting DCI boss Amin Mohammed.

Mwangi revealed that the DCI boss informed him that the Lavington land saga was resolved amicably and the land was handed to its genuine owner Munir Ahmed.

“He informed me that the Lavington land issue was resolved amicably. The Bhatti family withdrew their case, signed a settlement deed, and they handed over the land to the genuine owner, Munir Ahmed. The criminal charges were dropped,” the activist stated.

DCI detectives on August arrested Kumar and Anita Bhatti over allegations of grabbing the land from Munir.

In a statement, DCI justified the arrest saying the elderly couple had denied Munir access to the land.

“The DCI wishes to appeal to the public not to be misled by the circulations in social media without taking note of the above facts. The Director of Public Prosecution after considering the above facts, directed the prosecution of Mahesh Kumar Bhatti and Anita Bhatti for the offence of forceful detainer contrary to section 91 as read with section 36 of the Penal Code,” the statement read.

The Judiciary also weighed in on the matter revealing that the case was already in court and no order had been issued to have any party arrested or allowed to occupy a piece of land.
