President William Ruto on Saturday evening, May 25, jetted back from the United States of America after his historic state visit.

The Head of State was welcomed by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki and Interior PS Raymond Omollo who received him at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

President Ruto said that he was happy to be back maintaining that God's favour was with him during his time in the United States.

He thanked Kenyans for giving him the opportunity to lead adding that the trip was successful and the the US government was generous.

"Truly happy to be back home after a successful visit to the USA. God's favour was present, real, and evident. Our hosts were generous and considerate. We got what we planned for and more. I thank all Kenyans for the privilege to lead and for prayers, goodwill, and support. Baraka," President Ruto posted on X.

During his time in the U.S., the Head of State met with his host, President Joe Biden, senior US state officials and Kenyans living in the U.S.

President Ruto sealed sumptuous deals with the U.S. government among them being the designation of Kenya as a major non-NATO ally.

The Head of State further secured $3.6 billion (Sh477 billion) in funding from the US for the construction of the 440-kilometer Nairobi-Mombasa Usahihi Expressway.

Additionally, it was during his state visit that the U.S. announced that Kenya will receive 16 U.S.-manufactured helicopters between late 2024 and 2025 to bolster its ability to provide regional peace.

The U.S. further pledged $500,000 (Sh63 million) to a new Fiscal Integrity Programme to combat corruption in Kenya. 

Additionally, President Biden's government pledged another $500,000 (Sh63 million) for Kenya to to broaden its reach and effectiveness of anti-corruption advocacy.

President Biden said Kenya and the U.S. were committed to working together to build a better world for citizens of both nations.

"Like President Ruto, I believe the future will be won by countries that unleash the full potential of their populations – including civil society, women, and young people," President Biden remarked.
