A special heavily armed police unit has been deployed at the Kiambu Law Courts to provide security as ex-Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko answers to charges of robbery with violence and assault.
In a video doing rounds online, a group of armed police officers with a different uniform can be seen manning the court’s main entrance.
Unlike usual police officers who always provide security in such incidents, the special team had balaclavas hiding their faces and had a different set of firearms.
They were backed up with civilians police believed to be from the DCI
The special unit blocked journalists from accessing the court where Sonko is being charged.
