Elsie asked the question after Ruto's daughter revealed that the Head of State had forgotten Rachel's birthday.

The World Children's Day celebrations in Nakuru were characterised by laughter when President William Ruto's daughter Stephanie revealed that the Head of State had forgotten First Lady Rachel Ruto's birthday.

Stephanie, who was in the company of her mother made the revelation on Wednesday, November 20, while responding to a question asked by Elsie, a kid who was attending the event.

"Did our dad wish her a birthday and sing for her?" Elsie posed.

"When I met him in the morning and asked him, he told me that he forgot that today was her birthday. But, he told me that when he goes back home, he will have a surprise for her," Stephanie responded.

Surprised by the response, Elsie turned to the First Lady and wondered how the Head of State could forget the birthday, cracking up the audience with the move.

"Actually, I am thinking, how can someone forget about a birthday," she posed.

In response, the First Lady explained that being the Head of State, Ruto is often dealing with several things, therefore, he may tend to forget.

"You know our President is very busy. You can understand," Mama Rachel responded.

Afterwards, the local kids led by Elsie also surprised the First Lady with a birthday cake.

Earlier, Ruto wished his wife a happy birthday on social media, describing her as a pillar of their family.

"Happy birthday my love, Mama Rachel Ruto. Continue being a blessing to me and our children. Mungu akubariki sana," he wrote.
