The Kenya Railways Corporation (KRC) has announced a new timetable for return train services from Kisumu to Nairobi.

In a statement released on Tuesday, December 31, Kenya Railways disclosed that the train will depart Kisumu at 6:00 p.m. on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

According to the company, the new schedule will remain in effect until January 15, 2025.

"Take note of the schedule below for return trips from Kisumu. The train departs Kisumu at 6pm on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. This remains valid up to 15th January, 2025," Kenya Railways stated.

This comes after the company announced additional trips for the Nairobi-Kisumu route owing to increased demand during the festivities.

In a statement dated Thursday, December 19, the corporation announced that it was adding two more trips for those leaving Nairobi to the lakeside city.

Similarly, additional trips were announced for the Kisumu-Nairobi route.

For the trips from Kisumu to Nairobi, the train was scheduled to leave Kisumu at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays.

"The train to Kisumu will be departing the Nairobi Central Station on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 4 pm. The train to Nairobi will be departing the Kisumu Railway Station on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays at 6:30 pm," read part of the statement.

On December 6, 2024, Kenya Railways resumed train services on the Nairobi-Kisumu route, with economy class tickets priced at Ksh900 each and first-class tickets at Ksh2,400.
