Prosecutor Anderson Gikunda had asked the court to exercise maximum sentence against her on account of the damage the drugs would have caused.

Anyanga in her defence had pleaded with the court to be lenient in its judgement, saying she is a single mother.

"I have considered the mitigation and the value of the drugs in question. I hereby order the accused to pay a fine of Ksh20,593,200 million and serve a life sentence" Justice Mutuku ruled.

Anyanga's co-accused Mboga was acquitted, while she was charged with trafficking the drugs on August 19, 2016.

A driver with Modern Coast bus company testified in the case, stating that he was driving the vehicle in which the drugs were discovered.

He was flagged down by police in Naivasha and ordered to drive the bus to Naivasha Police Station, where all passengers were directed to alight with their luggage.

The driver narrated that one of the passengers was arrested after others revealed she was trafficking drugs.

The court heard that the drugs were trafficked in a brown carton box with a black polythene bag inside and 53 plastic brushes. The officers opened the hollow part of the brushes and found a brown substance concealed inside.

The substance was confirmed as methamphetamine following successful tests at theGovernment Chemist.

Justice Mutuku gave Anyanga 14 days to appeal against the sentence.
