Kalonzo is likely to be the Azimio La Umoja coalition  candidate for the seat.


Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has expressed interest in the National Assembly Speaker's post.

This was confirmed on Monday by the  Parliament of Kenya in a social media post that listed the Wiper leader as among the Kenyans who have expressed interest for the seat.

Kalonzo is likely to be the Azimio La Umoja coalition  candidate for the seat.

Bungoma Senator-elect Moses Wetangula has also picked his forms for the post.

The Bungoma Senator has been picked by the Kenya Kwanza Alliance to be their Speaker.

"We have agreed that Wetangula will be the speaker of the Nationals Assembly where we expect him to leverage his mastery of English to serve MPs. We have agreed in unison," DP-elect Rigathi Gachagua said during a church service in Bungoma.

Others who have also taken the forms for the two positions are Noah Winja, Jared Oluoch Oundo, Isaac Aluoch Polo, Farah Maalim and Robert Gichimu Githinji.

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday gazetted the first sitting of the Senate and National Assemblies.

The sitting to be held on Thursday, September 8, will see the MPs-elect sworn into office and speakers and deputy speakers of both houses elected on the same day.

Wetangula will be required to resign as Senator first to vie for the National Assembly speaker's post.
