Citizen TV's Swaleh Mdoe has disclosed that he was one of the staffers who suffered food poisoning at Royal Media Services (RMS) during the Christmas period.
In an update on Wednesday, December 28, the Citizen TV anchor thanked friends and colleagues who called or messaged him to find out about his condition following the incident.
"Let me take this opportunity to thank all my friends, relatives, and fans who called me to find out about my condition following the food poisoning incident at my workplace. I am ok. My condolences to the deceased colleague and quick recovery to others who are hospitalised," Mdoe tweeted.
RMS Group Managing Director Wachira Waruru confirmed a serious case of food poisoning that affected a significant number of staff working over the Christmas shift.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, December 27, Mr. Wachira noted that one staff had passed away while others were hospitalized.
"In keeping with holiday period working arrangements, the RMS engaged a private food catering company to provide meals for staff working during the Christmas shift.
"On Boxing Day December 26, 2022, some of the staff complained of severe stomach pains after consuming meals served within the premises of the company. We are deeply shocked and saddened to inform the public that one staff member has unfortunately succumbed to the illness attributed to the suspected food poisoning. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of our deceased staff member during this difficult time," part of the statement read.
