The Kenya Airports Authority has announced the closure of Terminal Two at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Nairobi, a move aimed at facilitating the movement of a VVIP who will be in the country this week.
United States First Lady Jill Biden is expected in the country between today, Wednesday, February 22 and Sunday, February 26.
As a result, KAA has made two major directions to be followed ahead of Biden's visit.
"JKIA will be facilitating a VVIP movement in the course of this month. Security agencies in completion with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have directed that: Terminal two should be cleared of any aircraft and vehicles on Friday 24th February 2023 from 1100 hours to 1700hrs local time. Terminal two should also be cleared of any aircraft and vehicles on Sunday 26th February 2023 from 0600 hours to 1800 hours local time," KAA said in a notice.

Stakeholders have been asked to relocate their operations to Terminal one within the stipulated time period to allow smooth facilitation of the VVIP and operations.
According to a statement by the White House, Jill visit is aimed at strengthening the partnership between the United States and Africa.
It will also help advance the areas of mutual interest in the region.
Further, the White House said Jill's engagements will focus on the empowerment of women and youth and the efforts to address food insecurity.
According to CNN, the First Lady will arrive in Namibia on Wednesday.
She will then come to Kenya, where she aims to draw attention to the ongoing food crisis.
