The Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome has announced that the National Police Service (NPS) has put elaborate measures to protect life and properties during the Easter festivities.
In a statement on Thursday, April 6, Koome stated that the security agencies would enhance patrols and surveillance to ensure tranquility is maintained.
“The National Police Service has put in place elaborate and stringent measures to protect life and property. Through our collaboration with other national security agencies, we have enhanced patrols and surveillance on highways, commercial and residential areas, social places, and churches to ensure that calmness and tranquility is maintained and traffic accidents are reduced during this festive season,” read the statement in part.
IG Koome asked motorists to comply with traffic rules including putting on safety belts, adhering to speed limits, and driving road-worthy vehicles to avoid causing accidents.

He further warned drivers who will be found driving while under the influence of alcohol that they would be dealt with accordingly.
“We wish to further caution the public against overindulgence during this season, especially in alcohol, and reiterate that those found driving while intoxicated (under the influence of alcohol a. other psychotropic substances) will be arrested and dealt with according to the law,” he added.
