President William Ruto has called out the Azimio la Umoja coalition over planned anti-government protests slated for Tuesday next week.
Speaking on Friday, April 28 in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County, President Ruto said he would not allow the opposition to carry out demonstrations in Nairobi CBD.
“It is not possible for us to allow a few people to destroy property and people's business in the quest for their own selfish interests, we must be a country that cares for everybody. I want to tell them that the protests they are planning to carry out in Nairobi CBD will not happen.
“I am the President of Kenya and if they want to continue, I will deal with them. Enough is enough it will not happen. Let them know that because we have agreed to talks they can play around with us,” Ruto stated.

This comes after the Azimio la Umoja wrote to the Nairobi Central Police Station notifying them of their public meetings and processions in Nairobi.
The Raila-led party stated that they would hold a procession in major streets in Nairobi CBD before submitting a written petition to the government at Harambee House.
“The meetings/processions will take place in the major streets of Moi Avenue, Kenyatta Avenue, Haile Selassie Avenue, and Harambee Avenue that fall within your jurisdiction from dawn to dusk i.e. from six o'clock in the morning to six o'clock in the afternoon,” read the letter in part.
