Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua has announced that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi will visit Kenya on Wednesday, July 12 for bilateral talks with President William Ruto.
In a statement on Tuesday, July 11, CS Mutua stated that the visit was rescheduled to allow the finalization of key memorandums of understanding between Kenya and Iran.
“The schedule of the President has now been reviewed to allow for finalization of key MoUs that are central to the furtherance of relations. The Iranian President will now arrive tomorrow for a State Visit. The President will be at State House at 7.00 am tomorrow for a bilateral meeting,” Mutua stated.
The Foreign Affairs CS also noted that after the meeting President Raisi will proceed to lay a wreath at the mausoleum of the late Mzee Jomo Kenyatta before proceeding to tour other African countries.
The statement comes after President Raisi’s meeting with President Ruto which was planned on Tuesday morning failed to take place.

A red carpet had already been rolled out, tents laid and all set for the Iranian President's visit only to be established that the Guest of honour was not forthcoming.
The cancellation at the 11th hour saw senior officials at State House fingered for the mess with President Ruto said to have been angered by the alleged mishandling of the visit.
Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi called on President Ruto to sack CS Mutua saying the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is committing blunders that will taint Kenya’s international image.
“The goofs that Kenya is committing through her ministry of foreign affairs has monumental consequences to her international image. The CS Dr. Alfred Mutua and one of his state department PS must be sacked today.
“They were brought to a docket that requires competence rather than political correctness. MFA is the first port of call of Kenya to the international community. It is not about Kenya kwanza or Azimio, we have no spare country,” he stated.
