Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki on Thursday, September 14, disclosed that the 48 Orbs used by Worldcoin to scan eyeballs and the electronic gadgets recovered from the company are undergoing forensic scrutiny.
Appearing before the National Assembly Ad-Hoc Committee on the inquiry into the activities and operations of Worldcoin in Kenya, CS Kindiki noted that they had also recovered assorted documents and recorded twenty-six (26) statements from witnesses and other persons of interest.
"Forty-eight (48) orbs, electronic gadgets, and Worldcoin operations assorted merchandise were recovered from agents of two companies; 'Tools for Humanity Corporation ' and 'Tools for Humanity Gmbh' who were harvesting biometric data, specifically the iris scanning of people in exchange for Ksh. 7,000 worth of Worldcoin tokens are currently undergoing forensic analysis," CS Kindiki told the committee in parliament.
According to the Interior CS, the National Security agencies had also recovered assorted documents and recorded twenty-six (26) statements from witnesses and other persons of interest which are currently being analyzed.
"There is a correlation between cryptocurrency, money laundering, and financing of terrorism. There exists a legal and regulatory gap in cybersecurity and cybercrime prevention in the Data Protection Act No. 18 of 2021," CS Kithure stated.

A task force has been established to develop regulations under the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act, 2018.
Speaking on matters of security across the country especially on borders, CS Kindiki mentioned that the government would go to any lengths to put a permanent end to the fraudulent schemes and stop the border row before it spirals out of control.
"The sporadic border disputes between the counties of Meru and Tharaka-Nithi are primarily sparked and aggravated by misrepresentation of land boundaries, bogus title transfers, and phantom property sales," he said.
