Kenya has lost yet another athlete after Charles Kipsang Kipkorir collapsed and died moments after crossing the finish line during a mountain race in Camerron on Saturday, February 25.
According to reports, the 33-year-old was leading until the final kilometer but suddenly stopped and then resumed the race and finished in the sixteenth place.
After crossing the finish line, Kipsang suffered a heart attack and collapsed.
Medical personnel at the stadium tried to resuscitate him but their efforts were unsuccessful. Kipsang was rushed to Buea Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
"We cannot say exactly what happened. He was fine. He was good after the race. We might believe that it is something like a heart attack," Southwest Region Governor Bilia Okalai told reporters.

The Kenyan athlete is said to have appeared exhausted at the finish line but there were no prior indications of poor health. This was Kipsang’s fourth participation in the Cameroon Mountain Race of Hope.
His death comes days after Kenya lost Marathon World record holder Kelvin Kiptum and legendary track and field athlete Henry Rono.
Kiptum passed away after being involved in a gruesome road accident in the Kaptagat area along the Elgeyo Marakwet-Ravine Road.
He was laid to rest on Friday at his farm in Naiberi, Uasin Gishu County after a state burial that was attended by President William Ruto, Deputy President Rigathi Gcahagua and IAAF president Sebastian Coe.
Rono on the other hand died while undergoing treatment at the Nairobi South Hospital.
