Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has come under fire after she condemned a Monday incident where Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga was ejected from the podium during a funeral in Kisii County.
In a tweet, Passaris noted that women should be respected regardless of their political affiliations.
According to Passaris, what happened to Senator Omanga was inappropriate and totally uncalled for.
“I am deeply appalled and would like to condemn in the strongest terms possible the manner in which Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga was manhandled yesterday in Kisii. No matter which side of the political divide we're on, women's bodies must be respected at all times,” she tweeted.
On Monday, Senator Omanga was ejected from the podium as she lined up with other leaders for an introduction during the burial of Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi's father.

Reports indicate that the senator was ejected as she attempted to take the microphone from Kisii Governor James Ongwae who was doing the introductions.
Following the move, a group of men took to the podium and ejected her as she protested.
Reacting to Passaris’s tweet, a section of netizens attacked her for defending Omanga yet she was the one who led to her ejection.
