On Tuesday, the Embakasi East MP shared a summon notice on his social media accounts which required him to appear before the DCI on Wednesday, July 24.

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has disclosed that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has withdrawn a summon against him.

In a statement via X on Tuesday, July 23, the lawmaker asserted that he was prepared to honour the summon but it had already been recalled.

"The DCI has unceremoniously withdrawn their summon. I was to be accompanied by my advocates, MPs and The people of Kenya, but it appears news of our visit in our thousands prompted them to recall their invitation," Babu Owino remarked.

The vocal legislator shared screenshots of a WhatsApp conversation with Eunice Njue, the Chief Inspector attached to DCI Nairobi County Headquarters who issued the summons.

"Refer to my earlier notification. Hon. Dr. Babu Owino you are no longer required to avail yourself," read one of the messages.

On Tuesday, the Embakasi East MP shared a summon notice on his social media accounts which required him to appear before the DCI on Wednesday, July 24. 

According to the summon, Babu Owino was wanted for questioning for alleged involvement in incitement and money laundering.

"I Eunice Njue the Chief Inspector attached to DCI Nairobi County Headquarters and inquiring into an alleged offence of incitement and money laundry where I do believe you (Babu Owino) is involved or has information which can assist me in my investigations. 

"Under the powers conferred to me, I request you to report to me at DCI Nairobi County Headquarters on July 24 at 9:00 a.m. and furnish me with full information concerning the case," read part of the summon.
