Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent his condolences to the families and community of Hillside Endarasha Academy in Kieni, Nyeri County after a fire claimed the lives of 17 pupils and left 14 others seriously injured.
In a statement on September 6, Mr. Kenyatta expressed sorrow, stating, "The loss of young lives, full of potential and hope for the future, is a pain that cannot be fully described."
He added, "My heart goes out to the families who lost their children and the school community deeply affected by this tragedy of unimaginable magnitude. May God give you the strength, comfort, and peace you need as you cope with this loss."
The former President also wished for a quick recovery for the injured children and comfort for the grieving families.

The fire broke out in a dormitory on the night of September 5 resulting in 15 pupils dying at the scene, while two others died during or after being taken to the hospital.
Eleven injured pupils have been admitted to Nyeri Provincial General Hospital and are receiving treatment.
While confirming the incident, National Police Service Spokesperson Resila Onyango reported that an investigation is underway, with a team led by Deputy Director of Criminal Investigations John Onyango on-site.
The Kenya Red Cross is at the school offering support to the families of the victims, including psychosocial services.
President William Ruto has ordered a thorough investigation following a fire incident at Hillside Endarasha Academy in Nyeri, where 17 pupils have been confirmed dead.
