The new changes will be effected during the upcoming peak season.

Kenya Airways has announced plans to add flights to five routes during the upcoming peak season.

In a statement dated Friday, October 11, the national carrier listed five major routes targetted in the plan including Kigali, Rwanda, Zanzibar, Plaine Magnien (Mauritius) and Moroni (Comoros Islands).

For instance, from December 5, 2024, to January 4, 2025, Kenya Airways will add two additional flights from Nairobi to New York. The two flights will operate on Thursday and Saturday.

For Kigali (Rwanda), Kenya Airways will be one additional flight on Fridays.

"Effective October 28, 2024, there will be one additional flight frequency from Nairobi to Comoros on Thursdays. The flights will now operate on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday," read the statement in part.

"Effective October 27, 2024, there will be an additional flight from Mauritius to Nairobi. The flights will now operate on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday."

On the other hand, Kenya Airways will increase night flights from Zanzibar to 7 flights weekly. The changes will be effected from October 28, 2024.

Meanwhile, the national carrier confirmed that it had suspended flights to Mogadishu, Somalia due to operational issues.

"Effective October 15, 2024, Kenya Airways will suspend all flights into and out of Mogadishu due to operational challenges. This will allow the airline to refocus its efforts on optimizing its route network and improving overall operational efficiency," read the statement in part.

"Passengers holding bookings on affected flights to or from Mogadishu issued on/ before October 4, 2024, and for travel or before October 15, 2024, will be contacted by Kenya Airways to arrange alternative travel options, including rebooking, refunds, or rerouting."
