The newly appointed council members will serve for three years effective the date of the notice.

The latest changes by Ogamba come amidst government plans to revive the university which has faced numerous challenges including prolonged strikes and financial difficulties.

Notably, various leaders including the National Assembly's Committee on Education have been pushing for a complete overhaul of the leadership at Moi.

"We are 15 members in the committee and what we have seen here, we have never seen in any other university. The mismanagement and the rot at this university can never be compared to any," MP Julius Melly stated during a meeting at the university in November.

"One of the things that will be discussed is caretaker management."
