Low-cost airline Jambojet has announced that it has temporarily halted its services between Nairobi and Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), effective Monday, January 27.
In a statement on Monday, January 27, Jambojet noted that the decision was due to increasing safety concerns and closure of the airspace.
The airline maintined that it was closely monitiring the developments and will give an update on the same in due course.
"Jambojet regrets to inform you that we are temporarily halting our service between Nairobi and Goma (DRC) effectively Monday, 27th January 2025 due to the increasing safety concerns and closure of the airspace.
"The safety and security of our guests and staff is our utmost priority. We are closely monitoring these developments and will deliberate on the next steps together with key stakeholders both in Goma and Nairobi," Jambojet stated.

At the same time, the airline explained that its customer service team was in touch with all affected passengers through its official communication channels.
The cancellation comes moments after President William Ruto called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and renewed efforts for peace in the conflict-stricken Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
In a statement on Monday, January 27, Ruto who also serves as Chair of the East African Community (EAC) expressed concern over the worsening humanitarian crisis in the region, made worse by ongoing military actions, including the recent closure of Goma airspace.
"Noting the worsening humanitarian crisis, exacerbated by ongoing military actions, including the closure of airspace in Goma, I call for the immediate and unconditional cessation of hostilities," President Ruto remarked.
