Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has condoled the families whose kin lost their lives in a tragic road crash in Taita Taveta on Saturday, February.
A bus plying the Wundanyi-Mwatate Highway crashed in the Josa area after an apparent brake failure that saw the vehicle ram into a guardrail.
Six people died on the spot; four of the fatalities were students at Dr Aggrey Boys High School.
The students were on their way home after their school was indefinitely closed following a fire incident.
Sharing in the grief, Ogamba observed the pain the bereaved families were going through following the tragedy.

"I am saddened by the sorrowful news of the tragic road accident that occurred on 1st February, 2025, along the Wundanyi-Mwatate Road, claiming the lives of six people. The six included four students from Dr. Aggrey Boys' High School. On my behalf and that of the Ministry of Education, I extend my deepest condolences to the families, friends and relatives of the deceased. We pray that God grants them strength and fortitude during this difficult time. We pray for a quick recovery for those who were injured. May the souls of the departed ones rest in eternal peace," the CS's statement.
Also to console the families was First Lady Rachel Ruto.
"We are deeply saddened by the loss of the young students from Dr Aggrey Boys' High School in the tragic road accident in Taita Taveta County. These were young lives full of promise, dreams, and endless potential, and their sudden passing is a loss that touches us all. Our love and prayers go out to the families and loved ones affected by this heartbreaking tragedy. May God comfort and strengthen you during this difficult time," she said.
Taita Taveta County Police Commander Ali Ndiema confirmed the crash, revealing that fire more students survived with critical injuries.
They were admitted to the Moi County Referral Hospital in Voi for specialised treatment.
Other survivors were taken to the Mwatate Sub-County Hospital for treatment; this as the bodies of the six fatalities were booked into the Moi Hospital morgue ahead of identification processes.
