President William Ruto has expressed that his administration now has enough political capital to transform the country, courtesy of the broad-based government.
Speaking in Mombasa after meeting with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga on Monday, February 24, Ruto noted that they had closed ranks with the opposition leader, adding that they were keen on ensuring that they work together for Kenyans.
The Head of State further remarked that there would be more broadened consultations between the government and other parties in the political arena amidst talks of a UDA-ODM partnership ahead of 2027.
"This morning as has been said by the DP and PM Raila, we closed ranks as a country and focused on what we can do for Kenya - the things that require our collective effort," Ruto said.
"I must be grateful that the necessary political capital that is required to move transformative programmes in our country now exists courtesy of the broad-based government and we will continue to focus on policies and programs that will catapult our country to the next level."

On his part, Raila described Ruto and his younger brother, thanking him for supporting his bid for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairperson seat.
The ODM boss added that he would consult with his party and friends before giving a way forward on his next move.
"I am back home and I am going to meet with my friends and supporters. I am going to consult widely on what is going on and in due course we are going to announce our way forward.
"Today we just came to meet the President and thank him with his team for the support he had given me. Also, I want to thank Kenyans who have supported me throughout this period of the campaign. I want to say watch this pace, I will be talking again."
Notably, Ruto's allies have been pushing for the appointment of Raila to the government following the AUC elections.
Leaders including Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei have called for the creation of a PM post in government.
"Baba Raila Odinga has vast experience and energy to offer for prosperity for Kenya. The Unity and peace of our nation shall spur the growth of our country. To naysayers ole wenu ! Raila shall not join them in doing Opposition politics and undermining the government," Cherargei wrote on his X account after the Mombasa meeting.
