Karua emphasized the need for a fresh political identity that resonates with the people.

Veteran politician Martha Karua is set to officially unveil the People’s Liberation Party (PLP) on Thursday, February 27.

In an announcement on Tuesday, February 25, Karua said the party aims to champion good governance, economic reforms, and the rule of law in Kenya.

She emphasized the need for a fresh political identity that resonates with the people.

"the people have been used to us in different colours under a different name; the purpose of the brand reveal is for people to know that we are now going by a new name and know our colours, which are purple, lilac and white,” she stated.

Karua highlighted the party’s mission, stressing the urgency of liberating Kenyans from various societal challenges.

“People’s Liberation Party is a name that speaks to you, and yes, we need to liberate ourselves from bad practices, economic wars, social wars, security, and education,” she said.

Karua called for national unity, urging Kenyans to rally behind the new movement to restore integrity in governance.

"We need unity of purpose; we need to come together as Kenyans and clean up the mess that has become of our country and return it back to the rule of law and a country that serves its people and not the ruling elite alone," she added.

The launch will come exactly a month after Karua revealed the coming up of the political outfit that she will use to vie for the presidency in 2027.

Karua made the revelations on Saturday, January 25, while addressing the gathering at her native home in Gichugu, Kirinyaga County, where she had hosted former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua and his allies.

"I have been the leader of Narc Kenya, but we have rebranded. We will be launching our new brand next month. The name is the People's Liberation Party (PLP). We applied for it in May 2024, long before the Gen Z protests. The process is becoming complete," she said.

Karua invited Gachagua and his allies into her fold which she said was committed to challenging President William Ruto out of power.

"I have heard my brother (Gachagua) is also likely to be launching his, but I am inviting you all. PLP is a big house. If ready, come and walk with us. We welcome you to form another party, but let us walk together," she stated.
