According to the former LSK boss, Ruto's directive for KDF to surrender the land was an exercise in futility.

Former Law Society of Kenya President Eric Theuri has expressed that President William Ruto has no legal authority to surrender public land.

In a statement on Monday, March 3, Theuri cautioned that the title eventually given to Jesus Winner Ministry will not be legally binding if due procedure is not followed.

Therefore, according to the former LSK boss, Ruto's directive for KDF to surrender the land was an exercise in futility.

"When it comes to the acquisition or surrender of public land, the president has no role. The pronouncement has no legal authority," Theuri wrote.

"Even if KDF seriously desired to give up the land, it can not be done by the roadside declarations of the CDF. That church will not acquire a good title and is engaged in an exercise in futility."

While attending a service at the Roysambu Church on Sunday, Ruto indicated that he had directed KDF to commence the process of surrendering the land to the church.

According to the Head of State, the land belonged to the church.

In addition to the land, Ruto donated Ksh20 million with another pledge of Ksh100 million.

"I had given orders to the Ministry of Lands, and it already played its part, and because I am also the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, I told the military that the land will be used to build the church.

"In addition to the land, we shall collaborate to build the church together.
