Staff at the Technical University of Kenya (TUK) are set to resume work following the signing of a Return-to-Work Formula.
In a statement on Monday, March 17, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba who witnessed the signing confirmed that the agreement paves the way for normal operations to resume at the university.
The signing of the agreement brings an end to the industrial action that had disrupted the institution since January 23, 2025.
"This afternoon, I witnessed the signing of the Return-to-Work Formula for staff at the Technical University of Kenya," the CS said.
The agreement was signed by Principal Secretary for Higher Education Beatrice Muganda Inyangala, alongside university leadership and representatives from the Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU) and the Kenya Universities Staff Union (KUSU).

Ogamba said with the signing of the agreement, staff members are expected to return to their duties immediately, allowing students to resume learning without further interruptions.
"With this agreement in place, normal operations at the university can now resume," he affirmed.
The industrial action started following the expiration of a seven-day notice period issued by UASU, KUSU and the Kenya Union of Domestic, Hotels, Educational Institutions, Hospitals and Allied Workers (KUDHEIHA).
The strike stemmed from multiple grievances including delayed salaries with some staff members indicating unpaid wages dating back to September 2024.
Additionally, there were allegations that the university had failed to remit statutory deductions such as the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) and contributions to various Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations (SACCOs).
"We are here today because the strike notice we issued through the UASU National Secretary-General Constantine Wesonga to Parliament, the Treasury, and the Ministry of Education about our grievances, has not been honoured," TUK Chapter Secretary General Fred Savanje said in January.
