Environment CS Aden Duale has revealed that the government is set to introduce a hotline in a move to deal with noisy night clubs in residential areas.

Appearing before the Senate Standing Committee on Lands on Thursday, March 20, he explained that the hotline will enable Kenyans to report noisy clubs for action.

He detailed that the move was informed by the new regulations of the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA).

Apart from the nightclubs, Kenyans will also use the hotline to report construction sites which were noisy or pollute the environment.

"I reiterated the joint responsibility of national and county governments in waste management and announced plans to launch a hotline for reporting construction and operations of clubs in residential areas, in line with amended NEMA regulations," he stated.

Night clubs within residential estates have become a menace for city residents in recent years.

This has seen county and national government agencies push for the entertainment joints to be moved to areas such as the CBD.

Other proposed areas include the Industrial Area, Westlands, Upperhill, Ngara and Karen.

Meanwhile, some nightclubs have been closed permanently with others ordered to undertake corrective measures such as soundproofing the wall.
