Lucy Wamaitha went missing on January 17 during a work trip in Embu County.

DNA tests on the body parts recovered from River Sagana have confirmed that they belong to 32-year-old Lucy Wamaitha, who went missing in January during a work trip.

Police said the DNA samples from the body parts matched that of Wamaitha’s mother Nancy Wambui.

“DNA samples were collected on February 12, and it has been confirmed that it was Lucy’s body parts that were retrieved from River Sagana on January 22.

“It is not even, a whole body as we speak, only half the body, from the waist to the neck, with the hands and legs missing,” Wambui told the media.

The late Wamaitha disappeared on January 17 while on a work assignment in Embu County.

The 32-year-old who was working for an NGO in Thika town, Kiambu County had travelled to Embu on January 16 with her boss and workmate and was never seen again.

Wamaitha is reported to have last been seen having a lunch meal in Embu town before her phone was switched off.

Her search led to River Sagana where detectives found a mutilated body without the head and legs.

Meanwhile, the detectives have arrested Wamaitha’s boss who is alleged to have had differences with her before her death.

Wamaitha had reportedly reported her boss to donors misusing funds meant to educate needy children.

The prime suspect is set to be arraigned in court on Monday over murder charges.
