The new revelations contradict the officer’s initial statement, in which he claimed he discharged his weapon after being attacked.

Fresh details have emerged regarding the shooting incident involving a police officer attached to State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed.

It has now been revealed that the officer, Mohammed Yusuf Keinan, shot Amos Langat following a dispute while playing pool table in Amboseli, Nairobi.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that the altercation escalated after Langat reportedly took the officer’s gun before returning it.

The two continued arguing, and when Yusuf left the pool, he allegedly fired two shots into the air, causing panic among bystanders.

Shortly after, Langat reportedly picked a stone, forcing Yusuf to fire his gun, fatally injuring Langat.

"I saw people running from the pool after Langat reportedly took the gun from the officer. He returned the gun to the officer but continued quarreling when the officer left the pool.

"It was then when the officer became upset and fired two shots in the air, forcing people to scamper to safety. Langat picked a stone, and it was then when the officer took advantage and shot him," a witness, Cosmas Ngotho said.

According to media reports, Yusuf fired seven shots at Langat, hitting him in the stomach and chest.

After the shooting, the officer proceeded to Muthangari Police Station while Langat, who was critically wounded, was rushed to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Langat’s brother, Allan Kipkorir, expressed grief and called for government intervention.

"I just heard a gunshot, and after that, I had to hide. The officer is always here; every time I come to this place, I always see him, but I've never seen him with a police uniform. Langat was the sole breadwinner for our family. I'm pleading with the government to help us," Kipkorir said.

These latest revelations contradict the officer’s initial statement, in which he claimed he discharged his weapon after being attacked by unknown individuals.

In a police report seen by Nairobileo.co.ke, the officer reported to the Muthangari Police Station claiming that he had been attacked by three men and one of them tried to snatch his Ceska pistol.

The officer said he fired into the air severally to scare the attackers before he ran away to the station to report the incident.

“He alleges that today 23/3/2025 at around 2000hrs he alighted from a motorcycle at kwa Mungai within Amboseli jb mr 2344566 about 4km west of the station and as he was walking home he was confronted by three men not known to him. One of the men struggled and snatched his Ceska pistol s/no. F4899 but he took hold of it by the muzzle and eventually recaptured it back.

“One of the men blocked him and he shot severally in the air to scare them. He ran away and reported the same to Muthangari Police Station alleging he had sustained a fracture on the left hand and injury on the left shoulder,” the report read in part.
